MADM: IEE alumni involved in MADM lecture series

IEE Alumni give students some insights into the field "Development cooperation in practice".

In a lecture series entitled "Development Cooperation in Practice" which formed part of the MADM Summer School at the IEE in Bochum a number of IEE Alumni returned to their former place of activity in order to talk to current MADM students from both the Bochum and Cape Town groups about the question of how development actually works when applied in the real world. MADM graduate Ardhilla Parama Arta who is currently employed at AIPEG (Australian Indonesia Partnership for Economic Governance) and DFAT-Australian Aid informed students about the activities of AIPEG and gave insights into the job environment at AIPEG. MADM-graduate Meike Strehl who is currently working for Engagement Global gave a presentation on the work of her new employer, whereas former PhD student Dr. Nelson Penedo introduced the students to the work of his current employer, the Salesians of Don Bosco.
Another IEE Alumni became even involved in two functions. Sanjay Gorkhali from Nepal is almost a double-alumnus: He is both a MADM graduate from 2009 and a former PhD student at the Business and Economics Faculty of the Ruhr-University Bochum. Since January 2013 he has been working as a Senior Programme Officer at GIZ Nepal in the Nepal Energy Efficiency Programme. In his role as an IEE Alumnus he first attended the SEPT DAAD Alumni Conference in Leipzig to give a presentation on "The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) Promoting Energy Efficiency in Nepal: A case of business membership organisations contributing to political decision-making for a socially desirable goal". A few days later he held a short lecture together with Collins Yeboah and Daniel Adotey at the Ruhr-University Bochum as part of the MADM lecture series on "Development Cooperation in Practice".
