News: Academic Achievements

Three IEE members have been awarded a PhD.

2016-04 DiotimaChattorajPhDThe most recent graduate from the PhD IDS is Diotima Chattoraj from Kolkata, India. After successfully defending her PhD Thesis on Monday, April 25, 2016, she has been awarded the degree of a Philosophiae Doctor (Ph.D.). Her thesis on "Ambivalent Attachments: Shifting Notions of Home among Displaced Sri Lankan Tamils" was supervised by Prof. Dr. Eva Gerharz and Prof. Dr. Dieter Haller. Prof. Dr. Wilhelm Löwenstein chaired the oral exam.

2016-03 SolikinAfter the successful defense of his PhD Thesis on Tuesday, March 15, 2016, Atif Ikram Butt from Pakistan has been awarded the degree of a Philosophiae Doctor (Ph.D.). His thesis on "Public Policy and Ideation: A Case of a Grey-Zone Country - Pakistan " was supervised by Prof. Dr. Marianne Kneuer and Prof. Dr. Uwe Andersen. Prof. Dr. Wilhelm Löwenstein chaired the oral exam.

On Wednesday, November 18, 2015, Akhmad Solikin from Madiun, Indonesia, has been awarded the degree of a Philosophiae Doctor (Ph.D.). His thesis on "Revealing Willingness to Pay and Willingness to Work to Avoid Deforestation and Forest Degradation Using Contingent Valuation Method: Evidences from Indonesia" was supervised by Prof. Dr. Wilhelm Löwenstein and Prof. Dr. Helmut Karl. Prof. Dr. Markus Kaltenborn chaired the oral exam.
