ZEF-Workshop “Reverse Degradation by Innovation"

Two members of the IEE PhD program, Abate Mekuriaw and Farah Asna Ashari, participated in the international workshop on "Reverse Degradation by Innovation - New Pathways of Sustainable Natural Resource Management" organized by the Right Livelihoods College at the Center for Development Research (ZEF) in Bonn from May 30 – June 1, 2011.

The workshop brought together a number of researchers and PhD students from developing and transition economies with four Alternative Nobel Prize winners. The focus of the workshop was to identify innovative practical solutions to limit or reverse environmental degradation in the nexus between local human development, national policies and global environmental challenges. It discussed on innovative approaches and instruments, key challenges, possible solutions and actions towards promoting sustainable natural resource management.
