Congratulations to 24 Afghan lecturers – the largest group yet – from the Universities of Nangarhar, Herat, Faryab, Samangan, Bamyan, Khost, Kunduz, Paktia, Kandahar and Kabul who completed the Bachelor Upgrading Programme in Management and Economics at RUB. On 6 March 2015 they received the certificates.
The group arrived about one year ago in Bochum, and successfully passed examinations in at least six subjects of Management and Economics. Most of the participants are lecturers from newly founded universities in the provinces of Afghanistan, and therewith extend the reach of the established training programme. For the first time lecturers coming from private universities were integrated based on an agreement with the Afghan Ministry of Higher Education. The DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) funded the programme.
18 of the graduates are now joining the international Master Programme in Management and Economics at RUB. The MSc programme consists of four semesters. Three semesters are dedicated to coursework in Bochum, and followed by a four-month field research stay in Afghanistan. Afterwards the participants will return to Bochum to write their master theses.
To date, the IEE has hosted about one hundred lecturers from thirteen different partner universities all over Afghanistan.
