| Meet our Students - Diversity as value added |
|
As in previous years, the heterogeneous character of the student group is manifested not only by the nations represented but also in terms of the first degree of students and their previous practical experience related to development cooperation. This is seen as an important value added not only by the IEE. Students are convinced that they benefit from exchange of experiences alongside their studies.
![]() "Currently, we have 37 students from over 19 countries with numerous cultural backgrounds in our master program "
In 2008, a number of 37 students joined the "MA in Development Management" in Bochum or the "Bochum Programme of Development Management" at the University of the Western Cape of which 17 are male and 20 female. The 19 countries represented in the student body are Afghanistan, Albania, Bangladesh, Brazil, Cameroon, Canada, China, Ethiopia, Germany, Ghana, Kyrgyzstan, Malawi, Myanmar, Netherlands, South Africa, Uganda, Vietnam, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Countries represented in our programme for the first time are Albania, Canada, the Netherlands and Kyrgyzstan. A notable number of 25 students receive a scholarship for their studies in Development Management. Again, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is the organisation through which the highest number of scholarships is financed and 5 of the DAAD scholarships are funded through the Development Research Division of the newly established "South African-German Centre for Development Research and Criminal Justice" at UWC. Currently the following students participate in our Master program (sorted by region).
