Alumni testimonial by M.A. Andres Gustavo Lopez Hoyos, Peru "It was an excellent experience as it mixed the theoretical and practical components" Apart from the tuition fees the university charges a registration fee which is around Euro 225 per semester and includes the right to use public transport facilities (SemesterTicket). Additional costs may arise from travelling to and from Germany twice as there is a field research period included in the program. Furthermore the internship which is also part of the program may cause additional travel and accommodation costs as far as it doesn't take place in Bochum. For regular costs of living students should allow for an amount of Euro 750 per month including accommodation, insurance, etc. Since summer 2002 we also offer the Bochum Programme of Development Management in cooperation with the School of Government at the University of the Western Cape, South Africa. This twin course is identical to the course in Bochum with respect to curriculum, lecturers and the degree awarded. The MA in Development Management of Ruhr University Bochum, Germany, will be awarded to successful students. The programme includes a summer school and an internship period in Germany. The next course in South Africa will start in spring 2010. Application deadline is the 31st of December 2009. Good qualified applicants from African countries can apply for a scholarship of the South African - German Centre of Development Research for their studies in the Bochum Programme of Development Management. "Overall, it was a great learning experience for me. More than the lectures in the classroom, I think the exchange of ideas and experiences with lecturers and classmates enriches one's perspective. The trips to Ruhrgebiet, Berlin and South Africa were cultural immersion. Living in Bochum in itself was cultural immersion. Your scientific approach to research (when we did our field work) has provided me foundation for my other research works" Entry requirement:
