MSc-program in Management and Economics |

In 2007 the cooperation between the IEE and RUB on the one hand and the Faculties of Management and Economics at Afghan Universities has been extended to cover training of Afghan lecturers on the Masters level. In autumn 2007 the MSc-program in Management and Economics started its 1st cycle with 17 students.The Program is sponsored by the World Bank through the Strengthening Higher Education Program (SHEP) framework and forms part of a partnership agreement between the RUB and the Afghan Ministry of Higher Education.

Targets
- Upgrading teaching standards at Afghan partner faculties through the training of lecturers in an MSc-program
- Improving research capacities: Guided and coordinated Master theses
- Fostering disciplinary specialization at the partner faculties
Results
- MSc-program in Management and Economics for Afghan lecturers started in early 2007 (17 participants)
- Coursework (90 ECTS) done
- Selection of research topics for guided Master-theses in line with the development needs of Afghanistan
- Field research for the Master-theses done
Future Perspectives
- Graduation: 26 February 2010
- Development of rules for promotion of lecturers at the partner faculties
- Start of 2nd cycle of MSc-program
- Admission of MSc graduates to PhD-program
