International Tourism Conference in Oman |

IEE research fellow Dr. Martina Shakya attended the 4th International Conference on Responsible Tourism in Destinations in Muscat from 10-12 October 2010 as a speaker and panelist. During a session on "Tourism, Livelihoods, Local Economic Development and Human Resources," Martina spoke about the links between tourism, rural development and human capital, drawing on her research results from Nepal. The conference, which was chaired by the Sultanate of Oman's Ministry of Tourism in cooperation with the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and the International Centre for Responsible Tourism (ICRT) at Leeds Metropolitan University, was attended by more than 380 delegates from 34 countries (photo: courtesy of Ministry of Tourism, Sultanate of Oman).
