Martina is a Professor of Sustainable Tourism Development at Heilbronn University for Applied Sciences. A geographer by training, Martina holds a doctorate from Ruhr University Bochum. Before joining Heilbronn University, Martina worked in South Asia and Southern Africa as an advisor in German development programmes and in international academic cooperation projects at the Institute of Development Research and Development Policy of the Ruhr University Bochum. She considers the cross-cultural work environment and the hands-on learning about the practical challenges of sustainable development as the most rewarding experience of her life-changing assignments abroad. Her research and teaching activities at Heilbronn University focus on sustainable tourism management, destination development, tourism geography and health tourism.
