Short Profile

UK Mong Marma as young researcher, is studying displacement processes and their effects on the lives of margin of the state. He is pursuing his PhD at the Institute of Development Research and Development Policy, Ruhr University Bochum, Germany. His research interests include displacement and dispossession, forced migration, development, decolonialiy, conflict transformation, ethnicity and indigeneity, and borderland. His research is largely ethnographic in South Asia with the focus on hilly region, Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) of Bangladesh. Prior to starting his PhD project, Marma conducted action research for alternative development among marginalized communities in the conflict prone region, CHT.
