Newsletter 38 Neu neu

Dear Readers,

The Christmas holidays are upon us and the end of the year is approaching. That means it's time for another winter edition of the IEE Newsletter. In this issue, we take a look back at what has been happening at the IEE since the summer and look ahead to the year 2024.

In this newsletter, you will find a report on this year's successful Alumni Conference, which took place from October 16th to 20th at the Congress Center of the Ruhr University Bochum. You can read about our experiences during a varied week full of practical insights, expert input, and networking opportunities.

The IEE says goodbye to the last Cape Town cohort of the MADM. Read more in coordinator Dr. Anne Siebert's interesting article about the graduation ceremony in Cape Town.

This year's newsletter also features a student report on fieldwork from which the Bochum group has just returned. In this report, student Shwe Sin writes about her stay in Cambodia for her master's thesis on promoting clean and improved cooking behavior.

You will also find an article about a special event organized by Britta Niklas, together with one of the MADM students, Selina Weber, the head coach of VfL Bochum, Thomas Letsch, and Sebastian Fritz from the organization "Kickfair". There, you can learn about how they all came together to have interesting presentations and discussions about the importance of (life) skills of coaches in sports.

Also in this issue, a report by coordinator, Simon Rahn, on the European Joint Doctorate “ADAPTED”, giving an overview of conference activities, publications, and the current state of field research for individual projects of the Early Stage Researchers. The report also provides information on the next annual meeting of ADAPTED, which will take place in Paris next year.

In addition, Early Stage Researcher, Muhammad Saleh, gives insight into his exciting non-academic secondment at the DEG, which he completed from May to October 2023.

We are also very pleased to announce that our colleague, Dr. Elkhan Sadik-Zada, was introduced to the Stanford List this year. You can find his and other interesting publications in this edition as well.
