As in previous years, the heterogeneous character of the student group is manifested not only by the nations represented but also in terms of the first degree of students and their previous practical experience related to development cooperation. This is seen as an important value added not only by the IEE. Students are convinced that they benefit from exchange of experiences alongside their studies.
In 2016, a number of 32 students joined the "MA in Development Management" in Bochum or the "Bochum Programme of Development Management" at the University of the Western Cape of which 12 are male and 20 female. The 19 countries represented in the student body are Brazil, Colombia, Czech Republic, Egypt, Ethiopia, Germany, Ghana, Indonesia, Kenya, México, Mongolia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Palestine, Peru, South Africa, Syria, Thailand, and Uganda.
Again, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is the organisation through which the highest number of scholarships financed via their development-oriented postgraduate study programme called EPOS. Then we have two students from South Africa financed via the Erasmus Mundus Programme EUSA_ID of the European Union, and four of the DAAD scholarships in Cape Town are funded through the Development Research Division of the "South African-German Centre for Development Research" at UWC. Further scholarship organisations financially support individual students.
Under "Current Students" you find all students currently participating at our MA in Development Management programme (intake 2016).
