The MA in Development Management at Ruhr University Bochum is one of the programmes included in the recently published extraordinary DAAD call for scholarship applications. The Master Scholarship Programme for students from the Ukraine as well as from countries of the DAC list fleeing the war in Ukraine to continue/complete their studies in Development-Related Postgraduate Courses is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
Application deadline for eligible applicants is 30 June 2022.

Former IEE student Gerald Ahabwe, MADM Alumnus of 2009, was installed as President of the Phd Fellows at Makerere University (Pf@Mak) last week. This group was established to "bring together PhD fellows to actively provide each other with mutual academic support, producing timely high quality research through networking, peer reviewing, sharing funding opportunities and timely study completion." On Friday, 18th of February, 22 candidates of the MA in Development Management programme received their graduation certificates after having successfully defended their Master thesis during the week.

DAAD scholarship holder and MADM student Setonji Ogunbiyi talks about his experience in football and studying in Germany in an interview. You can read the interview on the website of the Alumniportal Deutschland.
IEE’s Setonji Ogunbiyi from Nigeria was nominated for the “Goal of the Month” on German TV last Saturday (Tor des Monats, Sportschau, ARD). We are very proud of him and encourage everyone to vote for his goal online until October 23, 2021.
Setonji has longstanding experience in amputee football in his home country and even participated in the Amputee World Cup in Mexico in 2018. Since October 2020, directly after starting the MADM programme in Bochum, he has been playing for Fortuna Düsseldorf. Setonji briefly shared some insights on his experience with Fortuna Düsseldorf in our previous newsletter edition.

[2nd November 2021] - Meanwhile the results for the "Tor des Monats" have been announced and Setonji came second place, just behind Erling Haaland with over 300,000 votes. Congratulations!

This year’s conference will take place from 27th to 30th of July in Berlin and is hosted by the Master’s in International and Development Economics (MIDE) at HTW Berlin and organized in collaboration with the Small Enterprise Promotion and Training Programme (SEPT; University of Leipzig), and IEE’s MA in Development Management Programme. The conference is financially supported by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) with funds of the German Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the German Foreign Office (AA). Selected participants who are international alumni of the cooperating institutions therefore have the opportunity to get financial support for travel and accommodation costs.
