The Institute of Development Research and Development Policy (IEE) of Ruhr University Bochum, in cooperation with the Institute for Social Development (ISD) and the School of Government (SoG) of the University of the Western Cape, offers the Bochum Programme of Development Management. This twin course is identical to the Masters Programme in Development Management at the Institute of Development Research and Development Policy of Ruhr University Bochum, Germany with respect to curriculum, lecturers and the degree awarded.

After completion of course work of the first semester and participation in German language classes you will have the opportunity to take part in a Summer School on Research Methods and Development Practice at Ruhr University Bochum, Germany, between mid-September and mid-October of 2016. During this Summer School you will meet the students of the twin programme in Bochum. Apart from coursework the Summer School includes a seminar on Inter-cultural Communication and Team Building, workshops dealing with problem-based learning in Developmental Cooperation as well as some excursions for you to get more familiar with Bochum, the region and Germany.
The Summer School will be followed by an internship period of about two to three months with a German development organisation or a suitable corporation in the private sector, which is active in developing and/or emerging countries. The internships are tailor-made to the needs of both the relevant partner organisation and the related experience and preferences of the student.
