News: Thesis of PhD IDS Graduate Dr. Annika Engelbert Honoured with Prize
Dr. Annika Engelbert receives prize for excellent interdisciplinary work
On November 10, the GdF Prize for excellent interdisciplinary dissertations of the RUB was awarded to Dr. Annika Engelbert. In her PhD thesis, Annika asked why, despite numerous reform efforts, Sub-Saharan African public procurement systems are still not perceived to be able to curb corruption. To answer this question in in a meaningful way, Annika combined comparative legal research with empirical qualitative research methods. This cross-disciplinary approach closed a methodological research gap that is often postulated in Law and Development research, but rarely applied. An interdisciplinary jury of RUB professors honoured this innovative research strategy with the 'Best Dissertation Award', endowed with a prize of 4,000 € .
