We warmly congratulate our alumnus Damien Mama, who completed the Master of Arts in Development (MADM) programme in 2002, on his appointment as Deputy Special Representative of the United Nations Sectretary General in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. In this role, he also serves as Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator, taking on a key leadership position in coordinating the UN's political, humanitarian, and development efforts.
With more than 25 years of experience in international development, peacebuilding, and humanitarian action across Africa, Damien Mama has held several positions within the United Nations, including assignments in Burundi, Togo, Mali, South Sudan, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. His appointment reflects on outstanding career dedicated to sustainable development and international cooperation.
