Short Profile
Corinna is a social scientist and currently writing her doctoral thesis at the Ruhr University Bochum. Since 2021, she works as a research associate at Fulda University of Applied Sciences, where she coordinates the internationalization of the Fulda Graduate Centre of Social Sciences (FGCSS). Her research fields include the sociology of development and migration, the agrarian question and land conflicts. Corinna has done field research in Paraguay, Argentina, USA, Mexico, and Nicaragua.
In her dissertation project she explores how Paraguayan peasants attempt to shape, resist, or adapt to agrarian change. She weaves together three usually separated research fields by looking at the contestations over (1) transnational migration, (2) the neoliberalization of the state and development, as well as (3) the contradictory relationship between peasants and the agribusiness. This approach reveals the ambivalent role of hope(s), belonging and security and provides important insights in the struggle over rural futures.
