Short Profile
Salam is PhD candidate at the IEE with an MSc in Economics from Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg. She specializes in development economics and forced migration studies, focusing on Syrian refugees in Jordan for her doctoral thesis. In 2019, she collected 400 household surveys in Amman, Irbid, and Zaatari camp, leading to a published paper comparing work and education in Amman and Zaatari. Salam also contributes to the PDUW study (Protracted Displacement in an Urban World) and is affiliated with academic groups and projects such as the SYLFF-Mikrokolleg on Forced Migration at RUB, MERGE (Migration and the Middle East), and TRANSMIT (Transnational Perspectives on Migration and Integration) at the Berlin institute for Empirical Integration and Migration Research (BIM).
